Vector Ecologist, Napa County MAD

Description: This position, under the general direction of the District’s Field Operations Supervisor, is a mid-level position that conducts surveillance and control of vector organisms, helps develop and implement methods for vector-borne disease surveillance and control, and educates the public. Examples of work include but are not limited to: performs laboratory work related to the surveillance and management of vector-borne diseases; deployment and collection of various mosquito traps throughout Napa County; identification of mosquitoes and other species of vectors; procurement, design, construction and maintenance of devices used to trap vector organisms; investigation of resistance of vectors to pesticides and related materials; helps with compilation and evaluation of data and generation of technical reports; and assists in developing educational materials and in providing public education.
