Description: The Vector Control Specialist I is trained to independently organize and execute the details of his/her daily assignments. He or she must be certified by the State of California Department of Public Health as a Mosquito Control Technician within two and one half years of employment and is responsible for scheduling inspections and operations to control vectors in his or her assigned area(s) of responsibility; evaluates conditions that may produce vectors; selects and uses appropriate measures to control vectors; operates vehicles and equipment safely, mixes, loads, and applies pesticides legally; collects and records work-related data; prepares work schedules for extra-help support staff; and works cooperatively with other staff to complete work assignments.
The Vector Control Specialist I may be assigned to duties which pertain to vector control but have varying degrees of responsibility based on individual experience and/or expertise.
