Description: Under general supervision, the Mosquito Control Technician / Customer Service Representative (MCT/CSR) answers phones, inputs data, performs a variety of clerical tasks of moderate difficulty, and does other work as required. This position will have frequent contact with the public over the telephone and in public.
Under general direction of the Operations Supervisor and direct supervision of the Vector Control Specialist, this position may also perform inspections and control operations relative to mosquito vector problems in an assigned area. The MCT exercises safe and proper judgment in the execution of daily vector control assignments. The MCT position does not possess a state certification. An incumbent must be able to perform assignments under the direct supervision of certified District personnel, including either a Vector Control Specialist or Operations Supervisor. This classification works relatively independently and is accountable for vehicle safety, the safe use of chemical application equipment, recording work-related data, and presenting a good public image of the District. Other duties as assigned.
This assignment will be located at either the Santa Fe Springs or Sylmar branch office. The duration of work is seasonal/temporary, usually beginning with the onset of mosquito season and will last for approximately six months. This assignment is considered “at-will,” does not serve a probation period and will not gain permanency. This position does not qualify to receive District health benefits, vacation time or holiday pay.
