Three state lawmakers and several interest groups spoke
out in favor of West Nile virus control funding at a news
conference organized by MVCAC Legislative Coordinator Ted Toppin
and Media Specialist Nadine Westcott. The June 9 conference
was held at the closest standing water near the state Capitol,
near the trout pond just outside the east steps.
Speakers made a strong point of supporting restoration of
the full $12 million proposed by Governor Schwarzenegger for West
Nile virus control as part of his May budget revise.
